Handwriting notes and equations can be a powerful pedagogical tool. However, when designing courses with digital accessibility in mind, handwritten documents can cause real roadblocks. Equatio is a tool that can turn handwritten math and chemistry into screen-readable information as well as other helpful tools for learners and instructors

This training session will teach you about the pitfalls of PDF files and how to replace or remediate them to help make your materials meet digital accessibility standards. We will learn about the tools we have on campus to help with this process and provide a demo on how to fix PDFs and make your documents better.

This course will take the base skills you've learned in Course Accessibility for Everyone (CAFÉ) and build on that knowledge with the principles of TEA: Try, Explore, Adjust. We'll dig into accessible course design, learn more about the particulars of web and document accessibility standards, and put best practices into use for our courses.

There are a number of tools on campus to help you navigate your course's ICON site and access the information you need in the best ways for you. In this workshop, we'll showcase Ally's alternative formats function, the browser plugin Read&Write, and the proctored exam portal. Using these tools can help students study more effectively and in the manner best suited to their needs.
