The University of Iowa Accessibility Task Force has expanded the Digital Accessibility Liaisons Group to ensure each college and administrative unit on campus is prepared to meet legal requirements for digital accessibility. The program strengthens our shared responsibility to ensure digital content is usable by everyone.

Each unit identified at least one staff member to build distributed-unit expertise so it can move forward confidently with its own accessibility efforts, backed by training and peer support, and expedited access to campus expertise.

The accessibility liaison role involves:

  • Participating in initial training in accessibility concepts and practice throughout the fall 2025 semester.
  • Serving as the first point of contact for accessibility questions in their unit. 
  • Understanding how to address or escalate accessibility issues for their unit.
  • Meeting monthly as a cohort to share information and discuss issues.
  • Collaborating with your IT director and the Accessibility Inventory Team to stay informed on your unit’s inventory and help review items as needed.
