Digital accessibility means that people with disabilities can independently access the same information, participate in the same interactions, and use the same services with comparable ease and within a comparable timeframe. It removes barriers to university programs, services, and opportunities.
The University of Iowa is committed to making its digital content and technologies more accessible. This work applies across websites, applications, documents, course materials, social media, technology purchasing, and other digital services. The university’s IT Accessibility Policy establishes requirements supporting this commitment.
Housed in the Office of Civil Rights Compliance, the Digital Accessibility team provides leadership and practical support through training, consultation, accessibility testing, and purchasing review. We work with campus partners and technology providers throughout the university to build accessibility into their work.
