Digital accessibility is everyone’s responsibility—and a habit we practice together at Iowa. Whether you’re staff, faculty, or a student, you interact with digital content every day. Building accessible habits into your routine helps everyone succeed—and encourages others to do the same.

Here’s what you can do today:

  • Use clear headings, meaningful alt text, and accessible fonts.
  • Run accessibility checks in Word, PowerPoint, and PDFs.
  • Caption your videos or use platforms that make it easy.
  • Choose high color contrast and readable text.
  • Pause and ask: Can everyone access and understand this?

Accessibility doesn’t have to be perfect to be better. Each step forward—by you or a colleague—adds up to a more inclusive digital campus.

Let’s build Accessible Iowa, together.
