Drop by 2523 University Capitol Centre from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on Fridays through Nov. 21 for in-person accessibility support. No appointment required. OTLT staff and student instructional technology assistants (SITAs) will be available to:
Introduce you to TidyUP. Use TidyUP to scan ICON course sites for unused files, check for unpublished or unused pages, and easily remove pages you no longer need.
Review your Anthology Ally course report and help you improve your score. Ally provides scores (only visible to instructors) to assess the accessibility of course content and gives guidance on how to improve the content.
Set you up with best practices for writing accurate alternative (alt) text for images.
Assist with PDF remediation. Our staff has the expertise to help you make your PDFs usable by all students and take advantage of tools like TidyUP and Ally to simplify the process.
If Fridays don’t work for your schedule, please book a time with SITA. You also can email sita@uiowa.edu with questions.
We won’t offer drop-in hours on Friday, Nov. 14, as we’ll be hosting ICON Day 2025. Consider joining us at ICON Day to learn about accessibility by optimizing ICON course sites using Anthology Ally, hearing from our students about their experiences, or diving into best practices that you can incorporate into your teaching.
The Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology provides expertise, tools, and services to optimize teaching and learning through learning sciences research, ICON, teaching and learning data, and advanced classroom and instructional technology.
